Unique Character Creation - World Building Extension

Context:
The time period is set in the year 2000/2001, during this time a female subject has been contained within a large complex mainly composed of laboratories and clinics for both physical and psycho therapy. Our story follows two male scientists named Paul. R. Simmons and Rowan. M. Brown, as well as an old female subject whose past is left somewhat ambiguous but claims to be named 'Gaia', the literal embodiment of the Earth (as well as all of flora and fauna that exist on it).

Beginning:
The film starts by focusing in on a private scientific facility located within London, (while the location isn't directly given to the audience, it may be implied that the complex exists within a more secluded section of the city;) it is within this facility that the audience is introduced to the two male protagonists as well as the main protagonist, 'Gaia'. During this section of the film, every scene featuring 'Gaia' should be drawn out so as to emphasise the (unknown) physical strain she is suffering from, the audience should be made to connect to 'Gaia' on an extremely personal level as they learn about her love for all the life on Earth and how she talks down to the two mature male protagonists as though they were idiotic children.

Middle:
It is at this point that 'Gaia's' short backstory is revealed, how she was discovered in 1996 surrounded by seemingly sentient flora and how she has been under close examination ever since due to here peculiar origin and deteriorating condition. 'Gaia's' suffering is made to convey a message about global environmental instability on a far more human level, by seeing this withered old woman slowly being destroyed from within (supposedly) because of our careless, amoral treatment of the Earth, the audience should be made to feel almost guilty for their own past actions (i.e. not recycling, littering, upsetting the natural balance, butchering animals on an industrial scale, global warming, etc.)

End:
During the ending, 'Gaia' should begin to fall into a state of near death where her body finally begins to give in to the years of environmental/physical abuse. It is here that we see a lapse in professionalism from our two main male protagonists whose original goal was to simply observe 'Gaia' and record any improvements in her condition, this section of the film should convey without any doubt that this film will not end well, however that does not mean that there is not beauty within it, as 'Gaia' begins to die, the idea of mortality and the almost calming concept of finality should become ever present. It is within these final moments that we see that the machine registering 'Gaia's' pulse has flat lined and suddenly the screen blinks into darkness, leaving the audience wondering whether the world truly ended with 'Gaia' or simply continued, leaving us as a species to simply continue walking this Earth no more wiser than when the film started.
